Cars in Germany's Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities mentioned they were notified by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement say they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then found multiple other marked cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet cognizant of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for information.

An important official said the incident left him stunned and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This event affects the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
